We have a couple of required school project in the upholstery course. One is to make a footrest. Who on earth uses furniture like this these days? Totally pointless, if you ask me.
But I try to behave well, so I swallowed the bitter pill and done the task.

/Van pár kötelező feladatunk a kárpitos suliban. Az egyik ilyen egy lábtartó készítése. Ki az isten használ manapság ilyesmit? Teljesen értelmetlen bútordarab, ha engem kérdeztek.
De próbálok jó diákhoz méltón viselkedni, így lenyeltem a békát és szépen végig csináltam a feladatot.
Csakhogy az ember nem tud kibújni a saját bőréből…

The idea suddenly came up, it would all make more sense if your feet could at least stay warm while resting on that thing. According to enduring medieval legend, this famous ‘sea titan god’ sculpture will bite off the hand of any liar who places their hand in its mouth or, alternatively, any who utters a lie while their hand is in the mouth. How amazing!

/Egyszer csak beugrott, hogy az egésznek több értelme lenne, ha legalább a lábad melegen maradna, míg ezen a bútoron pihen. És innen már egyenes út vezetett a Bocca della Verita -ig, az Igazság Szájáig. A középkori legenda szerint, ez a híres ‘tengeri titán isten’ leharapja a hazugok kezét, vagy azokét, akik hazudnak míg a kezük a szájában van. Nem csodálatos?!

Speaking of mythology, water and monster, I thought I should add a touch of Tlaltecuhtli to the whole story. In the Mexica creation story, Tlaltecuhtli is described as a sea monster who dwelled in the ocean after the fourth Great Flood. She was an embodiment of the chaos that raged before creation.

/De ha már mitológiáról, vízről és szörnyekről beszélünk, úgy gondoltam nem ártana egy kis Tlaltekutli-t adnom a dologhoz. A mexikói teremtéstörténetben Tlaltekutli-t tengeri szörnyként írják le, aki a negyedik nagy árvíz után az óceánban lakott. A teremtés előtti káosz megtestesítője volt.

I created my own foot-warming figure from these two lovely, historical character. I hope you like it!
